Competitive riders in Trinidad and Tobago are excited for the launch of the Equestrian Association’s new scholarship program, in partnership with Blue Waters.
This training program targets the disciplines of Dressage and Showjumping. Five riders from each discipline were chosen to receive invaluable feedback from top international coaches, Jaime Morillo and Maria Ines Garcia. The riders also receive lesson plans and a monthly review of their progress. To achieve this, riders must send in training and competition videos every month, along with a training log. This training log details their ride, what exercises they did and whether it went well.
Local coaches also stand to benefit from the program as they learn new exercises for improving rider and horse performance. Every month, all coaches are invited to attend a free monthly Zoom session with the international coaches. The experts will explain what they see in the videos and why the exercises chosen will benefit athletes.
The first run of the scholarship program begins on May 5th. Congratulations to the ten riders chosen! A few other riders have taken the opportunity to join the training program. Well done, for your dedication and commitment to improving yourselves and your horses!
